Patricia Krenwinkel, one of the longest-serving women in California’s prison system, is up for parole, again, on December 29, 2016. Krenwinkel was a member of the infamous Charles Manson Family which went on a killing spree in southern California on August 9 and 10, 1969. Among the victims was director Roman Polanski’s wife, Sharon Tate, who was only 26 years old and almost full-term with her first child, a son, coffee heiress Abigail Folger (whom Krenwinkel stabbed multiple times), and celebrity hair stylist Jay Sebring. The next night Krenwinkel, Leslie Van Houten, Manson and others killed Leno and Rosemary LaBianca in another part of Los Angeles. Krenwinkel admitted to stabbing Leno LaBianca with a fork and leaving it protruding from his abdomen.
