Grant Amato Arraignment
Grant Amato, 29, is accused of three counts of first degree murder for shooting his parents, Margaret and Chad, and his brother Cody on January 24-25, 2019 at their suburban Orlando, FL home. Amato reportedly had spent $200,000 of the family's money on his sex addiction to a porn site called Cam Girls. He was under the apparent delusion that a Bulgarian woman on the site was his girlfriend. The family tried to get him help then finally kicked him out of the house. Amato returned that night and allegedly killed them all. He had spent a few days as of late December in an internet and sex addition program but checked himself out in early January. I suspect his mental state is being evaluated.
Joseph DeAngelo, Alleged Golden State Killer, Hearing
Joseph DeAngelo, the alleged Golden State Killer, faces 13 murders charges and 13 rape-related charges for a crime spree throughout California in the 1970s and 1980s. He was arrested in April 2018 once familial DNA identified him as having left his DNA at several crime scenes. Six California counties are working jointly in this prosecution. The trial will take place in Sacramento. Some believe the trial could take years to complete. DeAngelo, a former police office, is 73 years old.
NXIUM Sex Cult Trial
The federal trial of leader Keith Raniere and actress Allison Mack for sex trafficking is scheduled to begin today in Brooklyn, New York. Raniere is accused of running a sex cult/ring. Mack is accused of recruiting women to the sex ring on behalf of Raniere. They deny the allegations and claim all conduct was consensual. All the accusers were adults at the time. The organization operated out of properties near Albany, New York. Raniere is being held without bail; Mack is free on bond.
Pre-Trial Hearing in Murder of Teresa Sievers
The trial of Mark Sievers, 50, husband of Teresa Sievers, was originally scheduled to begin June 3, 2019 in Fort Myers, Florida, but the trial is delayed. A new trial date has not been set but the judge is holding a pre-trial hearing today. Sievers is accused of hiring a childhood friend, Curtis Wayne Wright, to kill his wife while he and their two children were on vacation in Connecticut. Teresa Sievers had left the vacation early to return home for work. As soon as she walked into her Bonita Springs, FL home, she was attacked and bludgeoned to death on June 29, 2015. Jimmy Rodgers Sentencing
Rodgers will be sentenced for his role in the bludgeoning death of Dr. Teresa Sievers in 2015 in Bonita Springs, Florida. Rodgers was convicted of the lesser charge of second degree murder and is facing up to life in prison.
