A Look Back at the Fred Tokars Case

I was saddened to learn of the passing of Michael (Mike) Tokars on April 3, 2020 at the young age of 31. For his entire short life Mike was burdened by what he witnessed on November 29, 1992 when he was just four years old. Mike had an older brother Ricky who was 6 at the time. They lived with their parents, Sara and Fred Tokars, in Marietta, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb. Sara was a beautiful, doting mother who loved her sons. Fred was a well-known attorney and business owner in Atlanta who was not a good father. He was controlling, and psychologically and physically abusive toward Sara, putting her on a strict budget–so strict that sometimes she didn’t have enough money for food.
