Former middle school English teacher Alexandria Vera, 25, admitted to police that she had sex nearly every day for months with a teen who was once her student. The teen, whose name has not been released, was 13 years old last fall when their relationship started. From the complaint, it’s unclear if and when the relationship ended though the criminal charges span September 30, 2016 through January 30, 2016 when the teen was 13. I suspect he turned 14 around the end of January after which the acts are still criminal but to a lesser degree, and carry a lesser sentence. Vera faces 25 years if convicted of the crime of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child which, in Texas, is abuse of a child younger than 14 years.
